Hills of Headwaters 2010

In the spirit of “staycations” I was looking for another convenient weekend destination that could be easily reached from my home base Toronto. I found it in the Hills of Headwaters region, which is barely an hour northwest of Toronto. Highlighted by the rolling Caledon hills, this area offers outdoor adventure, culture and culinary delights. Once I settled into my room at the historic Millcroft Inn I started explorations of the area. I visited the Alton Mill, which has been fabulously transformed from a run-down Victorian-era factory into a leading-edge cultural and arts centre that hosts many exhibitions, performances and special events.

At the Alton Mill, I had a chance to experience “Cuisine-Art”, a festival for great food and art and I also had a chance to meet many of the resident artists at the Alton Mill.
