Niagara Falls – Buffalo 2007
To escape the chilly Canadian winters, my husband and I had planned to spend a week in Puerto Rico and we were going to fly out of Buffalo, a popular departure point for air travellers from Toronto. Leading up to this trip I had planned to explore Niagara Falls, one of Canada’s most popular tourist destinations. In a very diverse travel program I did everything from a helicopter flight over the majestic Niagara Falls, a visit to the Butterfly Conservatory and Bird Kingdom to a walk behind the famous falls where you can see millions of litres of water dropping off the precipice.
I stayed at the Kilpatrick Manor B&B, a historic Victorian mansion where I had a chance to interview the owners. From the top of the Skylon Tower I got to survey the city and see the impressive falls; in the Fallsview Casino and on Clifton Hill I experienced the Las Vegas-like atmosphere of Niagara Falls. I even saw a magic show and a real Canadian theatre performance, before I was allowed to change the lights that illuminate the world’s most famous waterfalls at night. Niagara Falls in the winter might not draw as many tourists as in the summer, but it still offers a wide variety of things to see and do.
